The Fratellis

Fratellis

Fratellis

Mistress Mabel

Mabel? That’s what NME’s nan was called! Now, we realise Jon Fratelli might be pushing 30 but he’s not looking all that bad for his age – even if the Peaches’ and Alexas of this world are probably out of his reach, we reckon he could still bag himself a more youthfully monikered squeeze than a… Mabel. Oh, we get it, he needed something to rhyme with cradle. Genius. Sadly, this first cut from new album ‘Here We Stand’ is an unfortunately turgid slice of pub rock that sounds as dated as the name of its protagonist; more Chelsea pensioner than ‘Chelsea Dagger’.

Already stuck in my head!Wa different to their old stuff...a bit of the rock aspect has gone...but still as catchy as ever!

What a disappointment! Loved their first album, but this isn't even as good as their B-sides. Just plods along without their usual up tempo beat and catchy lyrics. Henrietta it ain't - if this sets the standard for the album then we're all in for a shit time. Reminds me of how Kaisers changed after they hit it big and came back with Ruby. To be fair, they were never as good though.

here we stand is a very anticipated album, but the single mistress mable dosent fit my expectations, not to the catchiness and fast paced tempo of costello music however i think this will still be a very successfull album and i hope they make more :)

i'm not saying this is a bad song, but if i shat liquid shit on the ground, the chances are that the splatters would make something that more closely approximated a decent song than mistress mabel. these tune-dodging cunts got 2 fucking songs on later the other night. thats one more than spiritualized were alloted. fucking ridiculous.

Just doesnt match the likes of Chelsea Dagger, Whistle for the choir, everybody knows you cried last night, creeping up the backstairs, henrietta, cigarello, for the girl, baby fratelli, flathead, cuntry boys and city girls. Its an average song, i hope the rest of the album is better. Although from what i heard on jools holland its about the same

I Love Mistress Mabel!! It's Amazing!!!!I don't know why people say it's a bad song, i mean, Mistress Mabel is one of their greatest songs i think!! it's a big hit!! i always hear it on the radio and i think "My favourite band, what amazing people" and i feel so happy, but when people say the song is rubbish, i feel, they don't know music at all!!Mistress Mabel .. i give 10/10!! Well done lads!! Fratellis rule!!Lara xx
