NME Reviews

Rufus Wainwright

Rufus Wainwright

Rufus Wainwright

Going To A Town

Of course Rufus Wainwright is wonderful and brilliant and everything, but does anybody else find him slightly less palatable since he started enjoying the addled patronage of Elton John – the only enduring rock musician who has never been any good, ever? Anyway, this is delightfully poised and doleful soft rock, full of anger and swollen strings. It’s brave too, being as it is a vicious paean to America and her hated position in the world.
