09:00 - 13:00 Saturday and Sunday
Expect the latest music news, details of the hottest new gigs and the best alternative music from the last five decades.
Sarah Kerr has DJed across the UK and Europe, obsessively seeking out the best new music and giving early radio exposure to Scouting For Girls and Does It Offend You, Yeah? among many others. A seasoned pro, she’s broadcast from all over the place, including Glastonbury and an 18th Century ship on the Thames.
What can we expect from your show?
"There will be music and there will be talking, that comes with a guarantee. There will also be opinions, fun, recommendations, reviews, memories, discoveries, contributions, and if we behave ourselves hopefully prizes too."
What kind of music will you be playing?
"Exactly the sort of music you’d expect to be associated with the NME – from its vast heritage all the way through to the best unsigned artists in this week’s issue."
Who are your radio heroes?
"Mark and Lard, John Peel, Steve Lamacq, Pete Tong, Mark Goodier, Marianne Hobbs, Chris Evans."
What was the first radio show broadcast you heard and loved?
"I guess the first radio show I became hooked on was the chart show, it was an essential routine, I had to hear who made it to number one every Sunday and find out if my favourite songs had won a decent slot in the top 40. It was always seemed so exciting when it got into the top 10 bit! In terms of shows that developed my interest in getting into radio, Mark and Lard were the dons for me, in the evenings, at lunchtime and yes even at breakfast! Their combination of imaginative comedy and taste in decent music was perfect listening."
Where's the best place to be listening to your show?
"Somewhere you can make a lot of noise and bust a lot of shapes as I can guarantee the music will make you feel no speakers can are loud enough and your feet can’t move fast enough."
And the best thing to be doing while its on?
"Getting nostalgic for the tunes that made you who you are and paying attention to the ones you won’t be able go get enough of by the end of the week."
