Police yet to identify remains found at McCarren Pool

A decomposed body has been discovered at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn, currently used as a venue for many music and arts events including the weekly free Jelly NYC Pool Parties.

Reports say the body was found yesterday morning in a shed by event staff who were looking for equipment. A foul smell had been coming from the shed for months, workers at McCarren Park told police, but it is not known how long the body had been there.

Theatrical performances, movie screenings and live shows have all served to make McCarren Pool a popular summer spot among local hipsters in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area where the pool is located.

Formerly a massive outdoor swimming pool, the giant concrete space is currently empty, with plans to convert it into a recreational centre in the coming years.

Last Sunday, The Breeders played a show as part of JellyNYC’s free Pool Parties while this Sunday (July 20) sees a performance from Liars and Fuck Buttons. The following Sunday (July 27) will see a headlining slot from locals MGMT.
