Stephen Malkmus, Broken Social Scene for Siren Festival

Initial line-up announced for eighth Coney Island bash

Stephen Malmus And The Jicks[/a], Broken Social Scene, Annuals and [b]The Dodos are among the acts announced to play the eighth annual Siren Festival in Coney Island, New York.

The Helio Sequence, Beach House, Times New Viking, Jaguar Love, Film School, Parts & Labor, These Are Powers and Dragons Of Zynth will also play the free one-day festival, which will take place on July 19.

The Siren Festival takes place over two stages in Astroland amusement park, on the Coney Island boardwalk.

In recent years, Siren has seen performances from The Cribs, Scissor Sisters, Art Brut, We Are Scientists and New York Dolls.

The future of the festival was thrown into doubt last year when Astroland was sold to developers.

However, the main attraction at the amusement park, the 81-year-old Cyclone roller coaster, remains the property of the Albert family, who will continue to operate it.
