Aphex Twin will perform in the US for the first time in eight years.
The UK producer has been added to the line-up of Houston’s Day for Night festival which takes place December 17 and 18.
Aphex Twin’s last appearance in the US was at Coachella in 2008.
According to Pitchfork, a rep for Aphex Twin confirmed that he has no further touring plans.
Earlier this year, Aphex Twin released a new EP called ‘Cheetah’. It is the third release of new music by Richard D James as Aphex Twin since the Mercury Prize-nominated ‘Syro’ album of 2014. In 2015, he released the single ‘Marchromt30a Edit 2B 96’ as well as the EP ‘Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt 2’.
Having waited 13 years since 2001’s ‘Druxqs’ album to release ‘Syro’, James explained that he is finding it easier to release new Aphex Twin music. He added: “Releasing music gets harder and harder. Every time I go to compile it, I give up after a few hours because it’s just so much stuff and then I get lost. But I’m now in this mode where I’m listening and compiling a lot. I think I’ll be putting out a lot of stuff, hopefully.”
