Kaiser Chiefs say they're not trying to replace Oasis

Bandmate sticks up for Ricky Wilson

Kaiser Chiefs have said that a story printed in the Sun about them is not entirely true.

As previously reported, Ricky Wilson was quoted by the paper saying that Oasis were out of touch and Kaiser Chiefs were ready to replace them.

However, speaking on the band's blog, drummer Nick Hodgson has suggested the story is not correct.

Hodgson explained: "The way I see it is Ricky was out, started talking to some guy. He didn't know he was a journalist (he didn't have a voice recorder or a notepad - which explains why the quotes from Ricky didn't sound like him at all)."

The drummer then added that Wilson may have said that Oasis have disappeared up their own asses, but he definitely didn't say the Kaiser Chiefs were going to replace them.

"He [Wilson] said that Oasis had disappeared....., which is fair enough conversation material on a late-night boozy do," wrote Hodgson. "But the rest sounds like a load of made up in the morning journalistic interpretation. All the stuff about music fans seeing us as Oasis' successors - and how Ricky thinks the vocals are really shaping up. Crazy talk. The vocals are awful, only joking, they're lovely."

Haha replacing oasis, the kaisers have dissapeared up their own arse more like, who does Ricky think he is, when he learns to write more meaningful lyrics than "Ruby,Ruby,Ruby" he can perhaps talk, the useless fat tossa

I think after the Liverpool 08 gig they realized they were completely out of their depth playing to more than a pub full. It was embarrasing to see how none of the crowd sang back to Ricky or sang along with any of the tracks because they are diabolical. They'll all be in the priory next week

firstly Elliott_Decihells did you even read the article before commenting? cos if ya did you'd see that they aren't trying to replace Oasis! secondly most of the people at the Liverpool gig were there to see Macca, and i dont think many of his fans are going to like the Kaisers are they. and thirdly Kaiser Chiefs have a huge fan base and at their gigs the audience does indeed sing back. and last but least Ricky aint fat!!!

When the Kaisers sell out Knebworth then inform me cause then they have a slight case... But they didn't even sell out Leeds... Unlucky lads :)

Why is this even a discussion? Oasis may have fallen from grace a little but the Kaisers should not even be mentioned in the same breath as Oasis. The Kaisers released one great single (I Predict A Riot) then faded away by releasing tosh like Oh my god! Well above their station!
