Rapper jailed for 70 days

DMX is behind bars

DMX has been sentenced to 70 days in jail - ten more than was expected.

A Judge in New York ruled that the rapper, real name Earl Simmons, should serve the extra time due to his disrespect for the court.

DMX had been three hours late for his sentencing, blaming it on an asthma attack.

The rapper had faced 60 days behind bars and a fine after pleading guilty to violating terms of his release after an incident at an airport in the city. He crashed his car into a gate in a car park, and also claimed he was a federal agent.

Under his conditional release he was told he must remain out of trouble for 12 months, but twice found himself in trouble with the police.
