Singer reckons he'll surprise the punters

Welsh pop legend Shakin' Stevens has expressed his delight at being asked to perform at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

The singer, most famous for his 1980s hits 'Green Door' and 'This Ole House', also claimed he will surprise Glastonbury punters who have a "preconceived idea" of his show.

Speaking to The Guardian today (June 19), Stevens said: "As for Glastonbury, it's the biggest festival there is in Britain, and I'm very pleased to be asked to do it."

Promising fans a show, the singer added: "People have got a preconceived idea of what I look like, what I perform and what my shows are all about. I can understand that, because all they can refer to is 'Top Of The Pops'. But those who come to my shows know better."

Stevens is set to perform on Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage on Saturday, June 28.

The festival takes place between June 27 and 29.

I bet he is pleased. It's probably the first he's played since 1987. Michael Eavis really knows how to give the kids what they want!

I can't wait to see him - this is what Glasto is all about! Seeing people you'd never normally go and see!
