The Verve deny V Festival cancellation rumours

Band set for weekend shows despite Nick McCabe 'cutting finger'

Interesting. I try not to take the media too seriously, but first we have Richard saying that things aren't all rosy in the band...then a week later he says he'd be open to continuing his solo career (though in fairness he said he'd be fine doing both Verve and solo material simultaneously)...and now this. Even HM doesn't have the full story; no one is reporting on what actually happened. If what HM is saying is true, there should be video or audio of Richard bashing a guitar and then the subsequent feedback/noise on Bittersweet that would have pissed Richard off. NME, or someone, try to get the full scoop and figure out what's going on. I don't think the fans can endure yet another Verve bust-up/break-up over a crap gig in Japan when they've finally returned to give us yet another great album & tour. Come on guys, get it together and don't screw it up this time!

Jay-Z raps about Oasis' Noel Gallagher Glastonbury spat

Read what the rapper had to say about the guitarist

all this lively debate tells me a couple of things:1. Oasis is still relevant, and that is certainly true of all those spouting off about how they are NOT relevant. How can there be this much debate over a band that doesn't matter anymore? They have been huge for 14 years; whether you like them or not, they're here to stay. (And to all the haters: just because newer and more hip bands have come along since 1997 or so, doesn't mean Oasis is any less good than they were in the 90s. All that means is the music industry is forcing what they want to be the next big thing down your throats, though of course some great new bands have come along in that time. At least Oasis are finally out of Sony's clutches and on their own label, where they belong.)2. Noel must be pretty confident of the new record, though who knows what that means. I say this because the last time I recall Noel having a go at a rapper was 1997 when, in the US at least, there was expected to be a big chart war between Be Here Now & Puff Daddy & The Family. Of course we know who won out that week of August 26th, 1997 in the States. Noel was talking about how he'd like to smack Puff Daddy if he saw him in the street, but he was on loads of "charlie", as he likes to call it, back then.I'm more interested in Noel's thoughts on the Verve reforming and Ashcroft's subsequent comments before Forth is even released, that he fully intends to do more solo material in the future. Oasis are huge fans of the Verve and they haven't said anything about it, they must have been asked by now by someone?

The Verve's Richard Ashcroft: 'I'm going solo again'

Singer says he will return to his own work before too long

what is wrong with him? the album isn't even out yet and he's spouting off about his mediocre-at-best solo material. he needs to face facts; that he is a much better musician and performer when he's with his bandmates. ever wonder why noel gallagher hasn't gone solo yet? because he knows Oasis needs him as much as he needs Oasis. same with Richard & The Verve. Stay with the Verve, Richard; please spare us any more adult-contemporary crap from your solo collection.

about time someone said it, and it couldn't have been stated in a less public manner. rock stars are rock stars; they're not voted in to be our fearless leaders...that said, those "leaders" are the guys we should be paying to step down & make way for people who can actually lead.

Brian Wilson refunding unsatisfied fans after gig

Former Beach Boy wants to keep fans 'cool'

Wow...unbelievable. This is how bad the mob mentality/crowd idiocy has become in my country, the States. These idiots go to a CHARITY gig and bitch about it until they're blue in the face, so Wilson decides to empty his pockets to appease them so he doesn't lose any fans. What's sad is not only are these people complete and utter morons for complaining about the quality of music at a charity gig, but that Wilson felt the need to appease the idiot masses with money to shut them up. Just goes to show why most people really do charity - not because they think it's right, but because there's a good performer or they want to look cool in front of their friends - "hey guys, i spent $150 on a concert but it's for CHARITY so it's cool - and Brian Wilson is playing, woo hoo!" I am so saddened by this, the morons in this country really are steering the ship right now.
